I would really like to have the Pure Cabinet available as a stomp.
Pure Cabinet as a Stomp Effect
-
-
I kinda like the pure cab-mode,at least on some rigs, but does anyone really know what it is for? btw, is it still there in the latest fw?
-
It is still there but hidden. You must hold rig for a few seconds while in system menu the move to cabinet tweaks page in Artist Mode and press soft button 4 even though is says no options available it will activate at 0.0. You can then turn the first knob aka bass to adjust level.
My desire is to have it activate or not per rig. If this could be included in the cabinet of each rig that would be most desirable.
-
ok, if it's still there then maybe it'll be explained in the next manual. I agree that it should be per rig and not global
-
It makes more sense as part of the cab than as a stomp, for two reasons.
Firstly as a stomp it would take up a slot that could be used for something else, and slots really are at a premium on the Kemper.
Secondly it's not something that you could change the position of within the signal flow anyway, it modifies the output of the cab and that's all. If it were a stomp it wouldn't matter where you put it in the signal chain, it would still be evaluated at the same location, which is either the cabinet output (as the name suggests) or on the master output, either way, it's position locked, unlike a stomp.

What I hear is a bit more homp on the mid-lows and a smoother response on the highs... as a guitar cab Vs. a linear cab.
Basically, a fraction of what changes when you engage the cab section (Vs. disengaged) while using a linear cab, a monitor or HPs.We've discussed this in the (not so far) past, can't remember where exactly ...

Definitely smooths some of my high gains out....... unless its too early in the morning here..............
-
No, it's middle of the night here and it sounds the same
-
+1 for having it on a per rig not global basis.
-
I agree it would be nice to have on a per rig basis BUT I would like to be able to use it with CABS OFF as well. In my studio monitors/headphones the sound is nice and warm with Pure Cabs at 5.0. Through my cab (Mesa 4x12) I can hear some of that harsh/coldness. My first thought was to turn up Pure Cab, but it didn't have any effect and I realized its intended use is for CABS ON. FRFR is in my future, but my cab is still my "blankie" while I'm learning about all of this stuff. Plus, with the band its one thing at a time. So far they are liking the Kemper!

How can you use an effect with the Cab section turned off when the effect depends on the Cab? It's not a static effect, it's adjusting frequencies in the Cab module itself.
-
Hmm.. I see your point. I guess what I'm asking for is to be able to apply the end result of the effect it has on cab emulations before it goes to my cab. To me in monitors Pure Cab = harshness/fizz reducer. So that's what I'm asking for really. I realize its probably something that should be addressed elsewhere in the chain (pickups, rig, cabinet), but it doesn't hurt to ask IME.

I'm not really feelin this myself

That's the thing - the end result requires a cab. If you turn the cab module off, Pure Cab literally can't do anything. One suggestion, however:
- Find an amp-only profile that loads up as if it had a cab - that is, the Cab button lights up and you can turn it off, even though there was no cab in the original profile.
- Turn up the Character knob. On my monitors, at least, the result is very similar. However, you'll have to REALLY turn down your lows to compensate. -
Pure Cabinet x Rig on Cab section is the way to go ... I'm sure sooner or later they will implement it...

Yep, they seem convinced
