And fix the picture embedding why even have the code if it doesn't even show the pictures anwyay?
Kemperites' Views on the New Forum Format?

I'm not 100% sure how to describe the issue, Ceddy; that's why I haven't added it to the OP yet.
If we can specify the precise conditions under which it does and doesn't work, I'll add it. I don't want to simply say, "Picture-embedding works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't".
It's like a KPA FR. I'm sure the company would appreciate some sort of specificity when I describe the issue in the consolidated list.
All that said, I'm 100% with you bro'. This needs to be fixed.

The only thing bugging me just now is that the Read and Unread posts fonts and colours are so similar I often struggle to see which ones ar unread. It’s probably worst on my iPad but still an issue on desktop too.
Other than that minor gripe I like the new format.

G String, surely the thread belongs here:
Website and Forum Software discussion
... where it originally was?

I must say I'm super-impressed by the snappiness of the new forum software.
Of all the forums I post in, which is quite a few, the Kemper forum is easily the most-responsive. I really, really appreciate this given my inconsistent-and-slow internet connection.
Whoever's responsible for this (the software developer?), thank you so much!

+1 - really want this back, if possible, please!!

Yep, that's a biggie for me too, Shawno, as is the ability to edit posts we make on our walls.

OK, I don't know how slow I am with this (never resize forum windows as I have a standard), but I just discovered that if I resize a window to be narrower than I'm used to for forum work, the following icon appears top-left-of-screen:

Top-right-of-screen, this one appears:

Obviously it'd have your avatar on it, not mine.
If you don't like seeing these icons and would prefer the usual, awesome-looking ones, just resize your window to be wider until they appear.
I'll add this "tip" to the OP if you guys confirm that it's indeed a new "thing"...

Correct weight, Arne.
Have I missed this years apefest?
Sadly, I had to cancel the event indefinitely. Too-much fun.
Say brother, do you know if the icon behaviour I outlined in post #288 is a new thing or did I just miss it 'cause I use sufficiently-wide windows?

Looks like if you make your PC screen smaller, the site moves you to mobile mode.

Thank you, Dave; I suspected as much.
Is it a new thing or was this obvious to everyone but me since the software upgrade?

To be honest, I'm on here probably 90% on PC, so I can't say whether it's new or original since the format change.

Restore the ability to edit posts.
I just had to do the double post thing on Nicky's wall because my stupid fingers decided to hit the Do It button before I was done, so editing would be nice.
Regarding the forum overall I'm obviously late to the party and I never saw the old one, so I can't speak to better / worse. I will say that this is one of the nicer forums I've seen. I like a lot of the design features and once I figured out which button did what find it pretty easy to navigate.

In reading a few of the comments on the first page of this thread I noticed some asking for mobile apps. The forum is done in what's known in the biz as "responsive design" meaning it automatically alters the layout based on the size of the display so that it can optimize itself for either mobile or desktop. I personally prefer this to native mobile apps and do all my websites, both personal and at work (I'm a software developer by trade) in this manner.
So, other than the edit post thing, I just wanted to add a "well done, guys!" as I think this is a really nice bit of work.

Make sure you haven't lost your notifications preferences, guys.
I've been wondering for some time why I haven't been notified about new followers and other things since the update. Turns out 3 of my preferences were toggled the wrong way!
I've added the info to the OP.
-
Make sure you haven't lost your notifications preferences, guys.
Nicky, does this forum send emails with notifications?
I've never received any emails and can't find any settings for it so my assumption is that it's not a feature that's supported, but you know about assumptions...
-
11 of the notification preferences provide email options, and 6 don't, Chris.
User Account / Settings / Notifications is where you'll find them.
The email options are:
Instant Email Notification
Daily Email Notification
No Email Notification

Ah, there it is! Thanks, I somehow overlooked that when I was going through the various options.

Yet again I ask for the following (with a few new editions), and have edited the OP to reflect the update:
Wall
Add ability to add attachments.
Add ability to use emojis in the same manner as the forum.
Restore the customisable-background feature.
Restore the ability to edit posts.
Restore the "Recent Visitors" display.
ConversationsAdd ability to add attachments.
Restore the ability to edit posts.
Members link
Please bring it back.
Forum Panes
Restore the Recent Activity window. There's enough room below the "Latest Posts" pane to add it 5 times over; why not use the dead space?
Bottom-of-page forum stats
Who is the newest member?
How many members are there?
How many and who is logged in?
How many joined the forum in the last 24 hours?
It's the standard M.O. for forums to provide this sort of information.
I added the attachments requests 'cause I've been caught out a few times during Conversations. You can't attach images (or anything, for that matter), and I was amazed that even if I embedded an image into an RTF file and copy-pasted it into a message it didn't appear, even 'though it looked just-fine in the posting window.
IOW, there's no way around not being able to share images (and all other files) during Conversations, which is IMHO absurd; long gone are the days of text-only communications - including files and not just text is far beyond a no-brainer.
Also, I added a request for normal-emoji functionality as it is implemented in the rest of the forum and conversations (being able to choose from a link bottom-of-posting-window), for our Walls.

Is there a way I am missing to resize the text of the forum? The tread titles are now huge on El Capitan unless I reduce the window size to half on the Macbook.
